Part of Ginny wished she was back at the Burrow. After so many years of watching her brothers go to Hogwarts with out her, now Ginny was on her fourth year at the school and with the Ministry's influence on it, she just wanted out. Or better yet, she wanted to cause some sort of trouble. Not anything too dramatic, of course, she just wanted to spice things up a bit. But how to do that was the question. The last thing she needed was for an owl to be sent to her parents notifying them of some little prank she pulled that someone else just over-reacted about. Since her father worked at the Ministry, that probably wouldn't go over too well. But Ginny was just itching to do something fun. This wasn't like last year when she could just do whatever, whenever. There wasn't a Tournament to help get her mind off of things. Of course, she'd been scared most of the time during the Tournament for Harry's sake and the after math of the events (especially regarding the return of He Who Must Not Be Named and the death of Cedric) were beginning to get ridiculous. The stories the Daily Prophet was putting out... and that was without the help of Rita Skeeter, who for whatever reason hadn't been writing since the Tournament last year. Not that Ginny was complaining, but she would have liked to know what was going on with that. She was almost worried that when Rita did reappear in the papers, it would be even worse than before. Sheesh. If Ginevra Weasley was this upset, she couldn't imagine how Harry must be feeling. After all, most of the attention was directed at him. People were calling him a liar and said that he just wanted some attention now. All the Ministry's efforts to firmly deny the return of the Dark Lord, but not everyone saw through their mask. Even one of Ginny's brothers had gone to work for the Ministry. He'd done that last year of course as well, but now it just seemed horrible. He wasn't Pompous Percy anymore. Last year he'd gone on and on about completing parchments on cauldron rules or whatever it was he was so fond of last year. Now Ginny thought Percy was more into the whole Making Harry look a fool business. It really felt like a betrayal. At least it was the weekend, and the weather was still nice. Ginny walked around the courtyard with little to nothing to do but point her wand and cast small jinxes on whatever she crossed. The grounds were full of people but they stayed well enough out of her way. Maybe they were thinking the same things she was – that this school needed some sort of make over this year. It was just too dull at the moment. The red-headed girl wandered around some more and made her way to the forbidden forest. Now there was an idea... As long as she didn't get caught. The fourth year looked behind her to make sure no one was watching, but she really wasn't being that careful. The idea of doing something fun was too ingrained her her brain now. She needed that sense of adventure. One foot in front of the other, step by step, she made her way just a little into the forbidden forest and climbed up what she thought looked like a pretty sturdy tree. One where she could still see people that were on the grounds. Just far enough into the forest that she couldn't be seen. Or at least, she wouldn't have been seen if someone wasn't looking for her, or had watched her enter the trees. Barely able to control her laughter, Ginny pointed her wand at a group of people and murmured a few words. All around the group leaves and bits of grass started to fly around, almost targeting the individuals. And just as suddenly as it started, Ginny whispered the words again and it stopped. Oh, there was definitely some promise to this idea. She just needed to think of some really good prank to pull. |
